G. Dennis Vaughan III, M.D. is Board Certified in Thoracic surgery. He is a
1964 graduate of Virginia Military Institute with a major in Biology. He then
served during the Vietnam War in the United States Army from 1966-1968.
Doctor Vaughan's medical degree was conferred in 1973 at the University of Virginia
School of Medicine. His residency was completed at both Baylor College of Medicine
in Houston, Texas for general surgery and the Medical University of South Carolina
for thoracic surgery. Until retirement, he practiced cardiac, vascular and thoracic
surgery in Texas and Virginia. There are 28 publications to his credit concerning
general and cardiovascular surgery.
Upon settling in Charleston, South Carolina from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Vaughan
wanted to remain involved with medicine. He joined Metabolic Medical Center in
2006 after his wife and daughter were patients of Dr. Jones. They enjoyed excellent
results and continue success to this day. We are pleased that he shares his time
and knowledge with both the Mount Pleasant and Columbia Medical Offices.
In Dr. Vaughan's spare time you may see him on the links golfing, or on the slopes
skiing.
